Toyota Wheel Manufacturing Plant

Location: Delta, BC Contract Value: $1.7M

This site was tight with little room for material laydown, so this steel frame building was erected with the crane sitting on the floor slab inside the tilt up walls of the building. Movement for equipment and material inside was further limited by the tilt-up supports holding the precast wall panels in place. Columns were erected around the perimeter only—there were no interior columns in the building. Shorter trusses framed the outside of the building connecting the columns and also spanned the bays between the larger trusses supporting the roof purlins. Seven 128-foot trusses were delivered to the site in two sections, bolted together and erected in one lift. The last truss was erected from the outside of the building.
