Westshore Quadrant Shiploader Recovery & Emergency Repair
Location
Westshore Terminal, Tsawwassen, BC
Project Description
KWH was the only contractor called by our client, on a three-hour notice, to salvage two shiploaders that were seriously damaged during a severe storm. KWH utilized both water and land-based cranes, together with diver support to salvage the loaders in large sections. All crews worked seven days a week on an aggressive schedule to restore critical port operations.
Our team of engineers and field experts swiftly developed plans and weight take-offs for a safe and expeditious salvage operation. Due to unstable orientations and loadings on the semi-collapsed structure, extra care and planning was required to ensure every piece was rigged and cut free to prevent any additional collapse or damage.
This emergency response project showcased KWH's ability to mobilize quickly, assess complex damage, and execute sophisticated salvage operations under time-critical conditions. The successful recovery of these critical pieces of port infrastructure demonstrated our expertise in emergency repairs and industrial problem-solving.
