Equatorial Guinea LNG Suspension Bridge — KWH Constructors

Equatorial Guinea LNG Suspension Bridge

Location

Equatorial Guinea, West Africa

Project Description

Based on KWH's technical experience, scheme, and proposal, KWH was selected through an extensive RFQ process by Bechtel International to install a new 350-metre pipeline suspension bridge connecting to an LNG plant loading jetty in Equatorial Guinea, West Africa.

KWH began by designing and fabricating all specialized erection equipment from scratch. The bridge was erected using a temporary "Hiline" — a special-purpose 40-ton capacity cableway purpose-built for this project. Each erection step was carefully analyzed and meticulously planned so that all equipment, tools, and materials could be assembled in Canada, shipped to Houston, and then transported to the remote African site.

An exclusive Canadian crew of skilled ironworkers, supervisors, and management were deployed to this remote location for the full 9-month erection duration. The project was completed with zero lost-time accidents or recordable injuries — a remarkable safety achievement across nearly 50,000 on-site work hours.
