JRI Leg Pulley Maintenance
Location
Richardson International Terminal, Port of Vancouver, BC
Project Description
At Richardson International Terminal (JRI) in the Port of Vancouver, KWH replaced two 7-foot diameter head pulleys from two vertical conveyors. The access was through the grain elevator shaft at an elevation of 240 feet from grade, presenting a complex logistical challenge in a confined space.
KWH deployed a 200-ton crawler crane equipped with a 180-foot main boom and 140 feet of luffing jib to lift both the old and new replacement pulleys. The existing site infrastructure and proximity to active conveyors made crane access extremely difficult. Every aspect of assembly and crane operations was meticulously engineered and laid out by KWH's engineering department to ensure safe execution.
All site work was executed with exceptional efficiency, allowing the busy grain terminal to experience minimal interruption to its operations. This project demonstrates KWH's capability to manage complex lifts in constrained industrial environments with precision and professionalism.
