2010 Winter Olympic Ski Jump Structures — KWH Constructors

2010 Winter Olympic Ski Jump Structures

Location

Whistler, British Columbia

Project Description

The 2010 Winter Olympic Ski Jump Structures were erected by KWH. Located 14 km south of Whistler, the Whistler Nordic venue features a 95m 'normal hill' and a 125m 'large hill' ski jump, as well as biathlon and cross country events.

KWH performed the erection and field welding of the ramps, judge houses, access staircase and catwalks. Working in a remote, mountainous environment with highly restrictive access roads on the side of the mountain, KWH deployed a 275-ton Liebherr crawler crane to execute the steel erection scope safely and on schedule.

The project required careful coordination to navigate the challenging terrain and tight construction windows demanded by the Olympic timeline, showcasing KWH's capability to deliver complex specialty steel structures in demanding conditions.
