University Club Façade — Ledcor Group

University Club

Location

1021 West Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC

Project Description

The Quadra Club was established in 1929, and it was one of the first private clubs in the City. In 1929 they moved into their brand-new building at 1021 West Hastings Street. In 1957, the building was purchased by the University Club.

The four-storey building is notable for its elements of Spanish Colonial Revival front façade. The building was awarded a City of Vancouver Heritage Award in 2017. The owners were able to take advantage of its location in the city to expand the total floor space. It features a striking new 34 storey modern building behind the old facade as well as a much larger basement for parking.

KWH was chosen to install the shoring system that the Engineer of Record designed thus preserving the historical building facade. After the new project shell structure was completed the temporary steel supports were removed by our team.
