Westshore Coal Surge Bin — KWH Constructors

Westshore Coal Surge Bin

Location

Tsawwassen, BC

Project Description

KWH Constructors was contracted to fabricate and erect a new surge bin structure at Westshore Terminals, one of North America's largest coal export facilities. The surge bin is a critical component in the terminal's material handling system, providing temporary storage capacity to maintain continuous flow between the conveyor systems and ship loading operations.

The project required precise coordination with ongoing terminal operations to minimize disruption to the facility's throughput. KWH's experienced ironworkers executed the heavy steel erection work while adhering to strict safety protocols required in the active industrial environment.

Working within the operational constraints of a busy port facility, the team successfully completed the installation on schedule, enhancing the terminal's bulk handling capacity and operational efficiency.
